Gleeson to bring 169 low-cost, quality new homes to Horncastle
Gleeson Homes has been granted planning permission to build 169 homes on Mareham Road, in Horncastle.
The development, which will be known as Poppy Fields, will see the 17 acre plot of land be transformed into beautiful, high quality, low-cost 2, 3 and 4 bedroom semi-detached and detached homes and one bedroom apartments. At this development, Gleeson’s contemporary elevations will be constructed, which are a newly launched design featuring on-trend black windows and doors.
With house prices on the development anticipated to be affordable, Gleeson expects these homes to be attractive to first-time buyers, growing families and downsizers local to the area and nearby.
Construction at Poppy Fields is expected to start in September of 2022 and will continue until January 2027. The development’s three show homes are projected to launch in October 2023, with the first homes released for sale around Spring 2023 and the first residents expected to move into their new homes in November 2023.
With supporting local communities being a critical priority for the Company, Gleeson will provide financial contributions of £584,890 towards education, £99,825 towards healthcare, £50,000 for bus services, £5,000 towards travel plan monitoring and a further £2,800 towards traffic regulation. Poppy Fields will also consist of 30% affordable homes as outlined by the local authority. Gleeson will also engage with the community as part of its Community Matters programme, which sees the housebuilder collaborate with local schools, sports teams, charities, and businesses, supporting local people.
Wayne Sutton, Gleeson’s Regional Managing Director for Yorkshire East, commented: “We are delighted to provide much needed affordable, quality homes to the area. We are dedicated to ensuring that the housing market better serves young first-time buyers and families on low to average incomes, making homeownership a reality for everyone. We believe this development will further enhance our presence within the community and demonstrate our commitment, complementing our existing new development, Winceby Fields, located just around the corner.
“We are looking forward to championing the community, engaging with local schools and sports teams, as well as employing a workforce on site that will be made up of local labour and contractors.”
Gleeson is seeking local labour and sub-contractors to work on this exciting new development, including applications from local young people who are interested in joining the Gleeson apprenticeship scheme.
