Your First Home
Helping first time buyers get on the property ladder with a low deposit.
If you’re a first-time buyer who can afford the monthly cost of a mortgage but are finding it difficult to save for a larger deposit, the new Your First Home scheme could make it that little bit easier to unlock a new Gleeson home.
What is the Your First Home scheme?
Your First Home is a proposed government-backed house buying scheme designed to help eligible first-time buyers in England buy a new build home with a smaller deposit.
If the scheme launches as announced, you could buy with a deposit of 2.5% and receive a government equity loan of up to 20% of the purchase price, leaving a mortgage to take care of the rest. The equity loan would be interest-free initially, potentially also reducing your monthly mortgage payments compared with a standard 95% mortgage.
Is Your First Home right for me?
Your First Home could help you buy a home if:

- You’re finding it difficult to save a larger deposit
- You’re looking to buy a new build home
- You can afford the monthly cost of a mortgage but need some additional support with your upfront costs
There will also be household income and local property price caps, so eligibility will depend on your personal financial situation, lender approval, and the new home you have in mind.
