Committee resolve to grant for 43 affordable, quality new homes in Prees Heath
Housebuilder Gleeson Homes has secured a resolution to grant planning permission from Shropshire council to build 43 affordable, quality new homes in Prees Heath. Located off Whitchurch Road, the new development will be known as Brushwood Gardens, and is ideally located near Whitchurch where there is a strong demand for new homes.
The development will see the four-acre land be transformed into a beautiful and carefully designed selection of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom semi and detached homes.
Gleeson has also agreed a Section 106 Agreement which will see them donating £296,962 to support the infrastructure of the local community, £120,666 towards education and schools and £3,500 to Prees Heath Common Butterfly Reserve. Gleeson will also be building a play area on the development for local children to enjoy.
Construction at Brushwood Gardens is set to begin in August 21 with the first homes expected to be released for sale in the Autumn, show homes open later in the year and the first homeowners expected to move into their new homes in the spring of 2022.
This will be Gleeson’s first site in Shropshire, as it looks to fulfil the need for affordable, quality homes in the area.
Stephen Cosgrove, Operations Director at Gleeson said: “We are looking forward to bringing much needed new homes for first time buyers and key workers to Prees Heath. As this is our first development in the area, we expect there will be exceptional demand for our homes. We are delighted to be supporting the local area by donating towards education as well as supporting the community by employing a workforce on site that will be made up of local labour and contractors.”
Gleeson build homes that are genuinely affordable, providing customers with the opportunity for wealth creation through home ownership. Four out of five of Gleeson’s customers are first-time buyers, with three out of four of its customers being under the age of 35.
Gleeson is seeking local labour and sub-contractors to work on this exciting new development, including applications from local young people who are interested in joining the Gleeson apprenticeship scheme.
