Gleeson Homes to deliver 63 more homes in Whitehaven

Gleeson Homes, the high-quality affordable housebuilder, is proud to announce the approval of planning for the eagerly anticipated second phase of its development, Ivy Mills, in Whitehaven.

Gleeson achieved planning permission to build 26 homes for the first stage of the development in December 2021. The second phase of the development will transform a once disused brownfield site into a vibrant community with 63 homes, offering a mix of 2, 3, and 4-bedroom properties in Gleeson’s signature urban elevation design.

Located off Cleator Moor Road, Ivy Mills is a commuter’s dream with access to Whitehaven town centre and the West Cumbrian hospital. The site also sits within half a mile of four local schools, both primary and secondary, making it an ideal location for families. The development is expected to attract a variety of residents, from first-time buyers and downsizers to key workers, aligning with Gleeson’s strategic focus to cater to a wider customer base and the community needs of the area.

As part of Gleeson’s ongoing commitment to community and infrastructure development, as well as its dedication to the West Cumbria region, the Company provided over £95,000 towards enhancing the local drainage network under the Section 106 agreement.

Construction is set to begin in late Summer, with homes expected to be released for sale in 2025.

“We are delighted to have secured another fantastic development in Whitehaven. Set in a great location, the site will showcase the best of our product offerings. We are passionate about supplying much-needed high-quality affordable homes to those who need them most, as well as enhancing the local communities where we operate. We can’t wait to get started.”
