Gleeson Homes showcases commitment to the Horncastle community
Gleeson Homes, the affordable high-quality housebuilder, is delighted to announce its commitment to supporting the local town of Horncastle and the surrounding areas with two community-based initiatives.
With its 89-home Winceby Fields development live in Horncastle and the 169-home Poppy Fields site due to launch this summer, as well as several others throughout Lincolnshire, Gleeson remains committed to leaving a lasting, positive impact on the local communities in which it is building.
Through its Community Matters programme, Gleeson partnered with The Ashcourt Group to assist in the repair of Horncastle Community Squash Club; a vital community facility that was damaged following Storm Babet in October 2023.
The Ashcourt Group, a renowned builder’s merchant, and trusted supplier to Gleeson, provided the necessary aggregates for the repairs, whilst Gleeson donated £1,000 towards the club's restoration. The repairs to Horncastle Community Squash Club will further enhance the community spirit and facilities available within Horncastle.
“Horncastle Community Squash Club would like to thank Gleeson Homes for all the support they have given us since Storm Babet flooded the building in October 2023. Gleeson Homes responded quickly and kindly donated to help replace the squash court floors and fix the other damages to the building. Without their help, the club would still be closed. Due to the support of local and national companies and the wider community, the club reopened its doors within seven weeks. We now have an improved facility that our members, the local community and schools can enjoy going forwards.”
A separate initiative supported by Gleeson included a tree-planting ceremony at its Birkwood development in Mareham le Fen.
The original tree, which was previously planted by locals to celebrate the village winning an award, unfortunately, became damaged. In keeping with its commitment to the local community, Gleeson organised a tree planting ceremony to replace the tree.
The ceremony was attended by guests such as Councillors Melanie Percival, Andrew Everard, and William Gray, as well as Gleeson’s Regional Managing Director for the East Yorkshire region, Wayne Sutton, and other Gleeson employees.
