After more than three decades together, Ian and Susan were ready for a new chapter, one that would bring them closer to family and allow them to embrace retirement fully.

Having spent years living down south in Buckinghamshire, a family bereavement prompted a shift in perspective. They decided it was time to prioritise what truly mattered. “Life is too short, so we took the bull by the horns and decided to relocate from down south to be nearer to my brother.”

The couple chose to move to Petersmiths Park in Ollerton, where they found not just a new home, but a fresh start.

Since moving into their new home, Ian and Susan have fully embraced their new lifestyle. “Moving here has enabled us to retire and enjoy life.”

They’ve also been pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of their home. “The energy bills are very affordable, and the air source heat pump has been good, very reasonable to run so far.”

Choosing to add those finishing touches to their home, they opted for fitted wardrobes and an additional patio in their garden, small touches that have made a big difference from the moment they moved in.

One of the biggest highlights of their move has been the sense of community they’ve found at Petersmiths Park. “The community feel is fantastic. We have lovely neighbours and have fitted in really well. We’ve made friends for life.”

Their decision to move closer to family has brought them peace of mind, while the welcoming neighbourhood has helped them feel truly at home. As they approach their first anniversary in their new home, Ian and Susan are already looking forward to celebrating the milestone. “We’ll celebrate being here one year in August 2026.”
