Gleeson to provide 114 new affordable, quality homes in Hull

Gleeson Homes has been granted planning permission to build 114 homes off Preston Road in Kingston upon Hull, adjacent to the Hull Kingston Rovers stadium.

The development, which will be known as Kingston Fields, will see the 9.29 acre plot of land be transformed into beautiful, high quality, low-cost 2, 3 and 4 bedroom semi-detached and detached homes. Gleeson will regenerate the land, which is currently overgrown scrubland, creating an exciting new community.

With house prices on the development anticipated to be very affordable, Gleeson expects these homes to be highly attractive to first-time buyers, growing families and downsizers local to the area and further afield.

Construction at Kingston Fields is expected to start in September 2022 and will run until January 2027. The development’s three show homes are anticipated to launch in September 2023, with the first homes released for sale around Easter 2023, and the first residents expected to move into their new homes in November 2023.

Gleeson will provide financial contributions of £9,200 towards off-site tree planting. Plus, to protect and enhance local ecology, it will add bat roosting and bird nesting features to 10% of the development’s homes and the existing trees and hedges alongside it will be retained. A Great Crested Newt breeding pond will also be created within the woodland to the west of the site.

Gleeson will also engage with the community as part of its Community Matters programme, which sees the housebuilder collaborate with local schools, charities and businesses, supporting local people.

Kingston Fields will be Gleeson’s second development in the Hull area, with Dane Park located seven miles away and being a great success, with 75 of the 166 homes already occupied and 80% of purchasers being first-time buyers, demonstrating the Company’s commitment to building affordable homes, where they are needed the most.

Wayne Sutton, Regional Managing Director for Yorkshire East, commented: “We are delighted to be bringing more affordable, quality homes to Kingston upon Hull. We are dedicated to ensuring that the housing market better serves young and first-time buyers, as well as families on low to average incomes, making homeownership a reality. We believe this development will further enhance our presence within the community and demonstrate our commitment to Hull, complementing our existing development at Dane Park.

“We are looking forward to working with the local community and we will be employing a workforce that comprises of local labour, including apprentices and contractors.”

Gleeson is seeking local labour and sub-contractors to work on this exciting new development, including applications from local young people who are interested in joining the Gleeson apprenticeship scheme.
