Gleeson to bring 160 affordable, quality homes to Thornton, Bradford

Sheffield based housebuilder Gleeson Homes has been granted planning permission to build 160 quality affordable homes in Thornton, Bradford.

The development which will be known as Squirrel Fold, will see the 16.5 acre plot located off Thornton Road be transformed into beautiful, high quality, low-cost 2, 3 and 4 bedroom semi and detached homes.

With house prices on the development anticipated to start from just £142,995 for a two-bedroom home and various schemes such as the Government’s Help to Buy: Equity Loan available, Gleeson expect these homes to be highly desirable, especially amongst first time buyers and young families in the area.

Construction at Squirrel Fold is set to begin in winter 2021, with the show homes opening in early summer 2022. The first new homes for sale will be released for sale in spring 2022, with the first residents expected to move into their new home in summer 2022.

Gleeson currently has several developments in Bradford, including Northbeck Grange near Lidget Green, Calverley View in Fagley and Carrwood Park in Tyresal, giving the area much-needed, affordable homes for young first time buyers.

Gleeson is currently in the process of confirming Section 106 agreement and ecology plans with Bradford City Council.

Andrew Davies, Regional Managing Director, at Gleeson said:

“We are delighted to be bringing 160 fantastic new homes to Thornton. This will be our fourth live development in Bradford, a city where we are seeing great success with our quality, affordable homes.

“We are pleased to be championing the area, supporting the community with our affordable homes and by employing a workforce on site that will be made up of local labour and contractors. With our homes, we are determined to ensure that the housing market better serves young first-time buyers and families on low to average incomes.”
