Gleeson supports growth of Ollerton Town Football Club with new community sports facilities

Gleeson Homes has reaffirmed its commitment to creating thriving communities by supporting the expansion of Ollerton Town Football Club through the delivery of new football pitches and infrastructure in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire.

As part of its Petersmiths Park development, where the housebuilder is delivering 305 homes, Gleeson identified an opportunity to enhance local sporting provision by making land available adjacent to the club’s Walesby Lane ground, helping the club meet growing demand and support its long-term ambitions as a flourishing community organisation.

Working in partnership with Ollerton Town Football Club and Newark and Sherwood District Council, the project will deliver much-needed additional playing facilities, creating opportunities for more people of all ages to participate in grassroots football and community activities.

The initiative reflects Gleeson’s ongoing commitment to investing in the communities where it builds, ensuring local residents benefit not only from high-quality homes, but also from enhanced facilities, services and opportunities that support healthy, active lifestyles.

The additional pitches will enable Ollerton Town Football Club to accommodate more teams, ease pressure on existing playing surfaces and improve playing conditions throughout the year. The facilities will also support the hosting of junior tournaments, community events and wider activities that strengthen the club’s role at the heart of the local community.

As part of its investment, Gleeson has supported the development through the installation of secure perimeter fencing, a new pedestrian pathway connecting the pitches directly to the existing Walesby Lane ground, and dedicated emergency access routes, ensuring the facilities are safe, accessible and future-ready.

With perimeter fencing now complete and the pitches seeded, the project is progressing well, with further updates on the official opening expected in the coming months.

“Gleeson is passionate about creating communities where people can truly thrive. While building high-quality homes is at the heart of what we do, we are equally committed to supporting the local facilities and organisations that bring our communities together. This project is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through partnership and collaboration. Ollerton Town Football Club plays an important role within the local community, providing opportunities for people of all ages to stay active, develop new skills and build local relationships. We are proud to have supported the club’s growth and look forward to seeing these new facilities benefit local residents for many years to come."

This is a huge moment for our ambitions to become the best community football club we can be. These new pitches will enable us to provide even more opportunities for local people to get involved in football and support the next stage of the club's growth. I'd like to thank Neil McLafferty for his hard work in helping bring this project to life, Newark and Sherwood District Council for their support, and of course the team at Gleeson Homes for their commitment and collaboration throughout. We're excited to see the pitches in use and the positive impact they will have for the community in the years ahead.
