Pupils from Misterton Primary School taking part in community initiatives

Gleeson strengthens community links with Misterton Primary School

Gleeson Homes is proud to be working closely with Misterton Primary School, located near its Mynster Fields development, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community and engaging with young people through meaningful, educational initiatives.

Over the past year, pupils from the school have taken part in several activities delivered in partnership with the Gleeson team, designed to support learning, creativity and awareness of careers within the construction industry.

One of the highlights was a health, safety and careers visit to the Mynster Fields development, where pupils were invited to learn more about the construction of a live site and why health and safety play a crucial role in this process. During the visit, Deborah Lindsay, Early Talent Coordinator at Gleeson Homes, spoke to the children about her role and the measures in place to keep people safe on site.

Following the visit, pupils put their learning into practice by creating health and safety posters, which are now proudly displayed around the development. Gleeson has also supported Misterton Primary School’s new art room by donating units and sinks to help bring the space to life. The finished room is now used regularly by pupils and provides a dedicated environment for creative learning.

Earlier in the development’s journey, pupils at the school were also invited to take part in a street naming competition, submitting ideas to help shape the new neighbourhood. A winning entry was selected, with the project helping pupils feel a strong sense of pride and connection to the area.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Gleeson and to see our pupils benefit from such positive, real‑world experiences. The site visit was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about health and safety and future career paths, while the support for our new art room has made a lasting difference to our school. We’re very grateful for Gleeson’s continued support and interest in our pupils and community.”
