Gleeson Homes celebrates community spirit with tree planting ceremony
Despite the rainy weather, representatives from Gleeson Homes, alongside local Councillors and community members, came together for a tree planting ceremony at its Birkwood development in Mareham le Fen.
The event demonstrated Gleeson’s commitment to supporting communities within Lincolnshire and continuing to make a lasting positive impact. The original tree, which was planted by locals to celebrate the village winning an award, was damaged, and Gleeson organised the tree planting ceremony to replace it. The event was attended by guests such as Councillors Melanie Percival, Andrew Everard, and William Gray, as well as Gleeson’s regional managing director for the East Yorkshire region, Wayne Sutton, and other Gleeson employees.
"We are delighted to have been able to work with the local community to restore this cherished symbol. The new tree represents our commitment to developing strong and enduring relationships with the people who live and work in these areas.”
To celebrate the occasion, Councillors Percival, Everard, and Gray took turns shovelling soil onto the new cherry tree, symbolising a joint effort to promote growth and unity within the community. Afterwards, attendees were treated to a tour of the show homes at Birkwood and enjoyed a selection of food and refreshments, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere despite the chilly weather.
"The event was a success despite the wet weather. The tree planting ceremony symbolises our collective efforts to restore and preserve a significant local landmark. It is a testament to the strong partnership between Gleeson and the Community.”
This event served as a reminder of Gleeson’s commitment to the region, as well as its aim to deliver affordable and high-quality homes to local buyers. With numerous developments within the area, Gleeson offers a range of house types that are suited to the needs many people looking for a new home whatever their stage in life.
