Gleeson donates to grassroots team Wallington Football Club
Gleeson Homes, the leading affordable and high‑quality housebuilder, has donated £550 to support grassroots football club Wallington FC, reinforcing its commitment to the communities where it builds.
Situated near Gleeson’s now sold‑out Grangemoor Park development, where 106 much‑needed new homes were delivered, Wallington FC plays a longstanding and valued role in the local area. Gleeson is expanding its presence nearby with The Shores, a new 128‑home development launching in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea in the Summer of 2026.
The donation to Wallington FC will help the club continue its work both on and off the pitch and will contribute towards its hoarding sponsorship, which Gleeson has committed to supporting for the next three seasons.
Established in 1877, Wallington FC is one of the North East’s oldest football clubs. The team currently competes in the Northern Football Alliance Premier Division and prides itself on a rich footballing heritage. Over the years, the club has celebrated notable achievements, including being crowned Division 1 winners in 2013 and securing both the Premier Division title and the Benevolent Bowl during the 2023/24 season. Today, the club continues to champion development, teamwork, and opportunity for players of all ages.
The donation celebrates a unique local connection, with the partnership born from a resident living in a Gleeson home on the nearby development, who plays for the team and has proudly represented Gleeson as an ambassador throughout their initial homebuying journey.
Gleeson’s support to Wallington FC forms part of its ongoing dedication to strengthening local communities. This commitment is outlined in its six‑point Community Pledge, which focuses on delivering community grants, creating opportunities for schools and young people, championing charitable causes, and progressing environmental initiatives that benefit current and future residents.
