Gleeson raises over £70,000 for Zarach The Children's Bed Charity
Following the return of its annual Charity Gala in September 2025, Gleeson Homes, the affordable high-quality housebuilder, is pleased to announce it has fundraised just over £70,000 in total to date for Zarach, The Children’s Bed Charity.
In January 2025, Gleeson officially partnered with the charity, founded in Leeds, and has dedicated many of its fundraising activities across its six regions to the charity throughout the year. Initiatives include bake sales and regional golf events. With the addition of the recent Gala, which raised over £50,000, Gleeson has now raised £70,151.63 for the charity. This collective total will enable Zarach to provide over 450 bed bundles to children and families experiencing bed poverty.
Deputy headteacher Bex Wilson founded Zarach in 2017, when she realised how many children were struggling during school days because they lacked a proper bed, or suitable sleeping arrangements in her local community. The charity supports families experiencing bed poverty by providing them with new beds and bedding items, following a referral from a schoolteacher or pastoral staff member.
The Gala, a black-tie event, hosted at the Queens Hotel in Leeds City Centre for a third-year running, was enjoyed by over 370 guests, including suppliers, sub-contractors, agents, solicitors, colleagues, and other Gleeson supporters. The event was a tremendous success, with funds raised through generous donations and a silent auction which took place on the evening.
The main sponsors of the event were Alconex, M Group Groundworks & Civil Engineering, and Sky High Tree & Ground Maintenance Services, all key local suppliers and contractors of Gleeson Homes.
The event forms a key part of Gleeson’s community engagement strategy, which sees the company support and invest in the areas where it operates, representing the Group’s commitment to local community engagement and development.
