Gleeson partner with Castles & Coasts to deliver 42 Affordable Homes
Gleeson Homes, the leading high-quality affordable housebuilder, has partnered with Castles & Coasts Housing Association to deliver 42 homes at Harker Place, a new development in Carlisle.
This collaboration forms part of a larger scheme that will bring 186 energy-efficient, highly affordable homes to the area, which will contribute to the growing demand for housing in Carlisle. The development offers a range of tenure options to support a diverse and thriving community, including open market, Shared Ownership and rental properties.
Gleeson’s Partnership’s strategy plays a key part in the Group's short-term growth ambitions, with strategic partnerships expected to contribute over 20% of total home delivery. The homes being delivered for Castles & Coasts will include a mix of two and three-bedroom properties, catering to a variety of household sizes and needs. Expected delivery of these homes is forecasted in 2026 and 2027, with full site completion anticipated by the end of 2029.
Harker Place marks the largest partnership to date between Gleeson Homes and Castles & Coasts Housing Association, building on a relationship that has steadily grown over recent years. This development is the tenth project the two organisations have delivered together and represents the largest number of units delivered across a single site. The most recent partnership prior to Harker Place saw six homes delivered at Gleeson’s Fawns Wood development in Longtown, as part of a Section 106 agreement to provide Social Rent.
“This partnership with Castles & Coasts, as our largest scheme together to date, marks an exciting milestone for the business. It also demonstrates our commitment to growing our Partnerships strategy, with a shared vision of creating thriving communities and building futures.”
“We’re proud to be working alongside Castles & Coasts on our largest joint scheme yet. Harker Place is a prime example of what can be achieved when two organisations with aligned values come together to deliver houses that people genuinely need and we’re proud to be supporting the Carlisle community in providing them with the homes they need.”
“We’ve been working closely with Gleeson Homes for a number of years now. This new partnership scheme builds on our excellent and continually growing relationship, which has seen CCHA acquire over 100 homes from Gleeson Homes over the last three years. We’re really excited about this new partnership scheme because it gives us more flexibility. We will be able to secure specific house types and provide enhancements such as Solar PV and smart batteries to help keep running costs as low as possible for residents. We know there is still an urgent need for more affordable homes in Carlisle, so we’re delighted to be able to provide yet more people who have roots in the city and have built their families here with the chance to secure a new home.”
