Gleeson Homes presents cheque to Freshfields Animal Rescue
Over its last financial year, housebuilder Gleeson Homes’ Merseyside region has been supporting Freshfields Animal Rescue.
Freshfields Animal Rescue is a community focussed non-profit charitable organisation caring for the abandoned, abused, and unwanted domestic and small farm animals along with sick and injured wildlife, located on the outskirts of Liverpool.
After several raffles, dress down days, and competitions organised by members of its Merseyside region, Gleeson managed to raise a grand total of £1,247.50 for the charity, surpassing its target of £1,000.
It’s not just the office team that has rallied together to support the charity; Gleeson’s hard-working labourers and subcontractors have also rolled up their sleeves and helped out wherever they can.
Bricklayers kindly donated their time and expertise to repair walls, and colleagues, plus their families have offered their support by tackling the overgrown greenery to give the charity’s headquarters a much-needed facelift and some curb appeal.
After the success of their partnership in 2021 and 2022, Gleeson Merseyside will be continuing to support Freshfields throughout its 2023 financial year.
Arron Passarelli, Divisional Managing Director commented: “I am so proud of what the Merseyside region has achieved for such a fantastic cause. Freshfields Animal Rescue is a charity close to many of our colleagues’ hearts, with a few members of the team having adopted their pets from the rescue centre. I’m sure the animals will benefit from the much needed funds we have raised and the work we have carried out for the centre over the past 12 months. It brings me great joy to hear that we will be supporting the charity for another 12 months throughout our next financial year. We are keen to offer our support wherever we can at Gleeson, giving back to local charities and communities.”
Debbie Hughes, PR and Communications Manager at Freshfields Animal Rescue said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Gleeson for choosing to support Freshfields Animal Rescue. The support and money they have donated has helped us to make sure that the 500 creatures at our Liverpool Rescue Centre have the food, warmth, love and excellent medical care they need.
“With Gleeson’s skills, resources, energy and dedication, they have helped massively and on behalf of all the four and two legged creatures at Freshfields, we are very grateful and are looking forward to continuing our partnership.”
Gleeson’s Community Matters programme has been implemented to ensure that the communities in which Gleeson builds feel the benefit of new developments, with the housebuilder understanding the importance of involving local people before and during the construction of its homes, leaving a legacy once works are complete.
The programme also sees Gleeson donate to and work with local sports teams and community groups, collaborate with schools on a range of initiatives and provide jobs and apprenticeships for local people.
