Gleeson gives back to the community through sponsorship of Withernsea Flower and Garden Club

Gleeson Homes, the leading high-quality affordable housebuilder, is pleased to announce that its East Yorkshire region is sponsoring the start-up of a brand-new Flower and Gardening Club in Withernsea. Founded by local resident Irene Mounter-Firth, the club’s aim is to promote horticulture and community engagement.

Gleeson’s East Yorkshire region opened the door to its Withernsea-based development Sands Reach in January 2025, and this sponsorship underscores Gleeson's commitment to fostering vibrant and sustainable communities. By supporting the Withernsea Flower and Gardening Club, Gleeson hopes to enhance the opportunities for residents to connect, learn, and grow together.

The Withernsea Flower and Gardening Club is an alternative club holding monthly meetings at The Meridian Centre. Each session incorporates short demonstrations led by experts, a raffle donation and plant sales; alongside offering complimentary hot drinks and cakes to members. The purpose of the club is to create a happy and friendly atmosphere where friends and residents can meet to socialise and celebrate all things gardening and flower art.

Gleeson’s sponsorship will enable the local club to expand its activities and collaborative work in the community, all designed to bring people together, encourage environmental stewardship, and improve the overall quality of life in our community.

As pictured above, the first meeting took place on the 15th of April, led by Lara from Plant and Paint in Hull, who demonstrated how to make a Terrarium, which was later available as part of the raffle. For those looking to join, subsequent meetings will take place at 7pm on the third Tuesday of each month, with a variety of guest speakers.

Club membership costs £15.00, plus an additional £1,00 fee each time members attend. For non-members, there will be a £3.00 admission fee per meeting.

“We are proud to be supporting Withernsea resident Irene in her start-up of the Flower and Gardening Club, which is bringing local people together. This sponsorship reflects our commitment to giving back to the communities where we are building, and we hope our donation will help contribute to the club’s growth and longevity.”
