Gleeson releases first-ever 5-bedroom home in Egremont

Gleeson Homes, the leading housebuilder delivering high-quality homes at great value in Cumbria, is delighted to announce the launch of its first-ever 5-bedroom detached home at its Castle Meadows development in Egremont. Officially launching in January 2026, the development will deliver 164 new, energy-efficient homes.

The release of Gleeson’s first-ever 5-bedroom house style, the Castledermot, marks a significant milestone in the Company’s ongoing commitment to broadening its appeal and meeting the evolving needs of UK homebuyers.

Castle Meadows is a brand-new 164-home development, consisting of 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes in Egremont. Situated just a 15-minute drive from the Lake District National Park, it’s beautifully surrounded by the best of Cumbria’s natural landscapes and nature spots, with views of the Northern Fells. The development is also within walking distance of Bookwell Primary School – rated Outstanding by Ofsted in every category and recognised as one of the best schools in the country.

Gleeson’s new Castledermot house type reflects the strategic move to cater to growing families and multi-generational households seeking spacious, flexible living in desirable locations. The new design combines generous proportions with thoughtful layouts, offering five well-sized bedrooms, spacious living and dining rooms, and modern energy-efficient features.

In addition to the Castledermot house style, this development will also welcome two further 2.5-storey living options for prospective buyers. Launching further down the development lifecycle will be Gleeson’s Finn house style, a 3-bedroom semi-detached 2.5-storey home, and the Glencar, a 4-bedroom 2.5-storey home, both new product types in the Gleeson portfolio.

Gleeson’s Castle Meadows development features an enhanced specification including block-paved drives, an outdoor tap, turf to the front and rear gardens, 6ft fencing and gates. Upgraded kitchen and integrated appliances will also be included in all 4-bedroom homes at the development.

Alongside its delivery of new homes in Egremont, Gleeson has committed to several contributions that will provide significant investment to the local community. Section 106 contributions include £1 million towards Education, £83,000 towards recreational space and over £41,000 on footway improvements.

“Maintaining the high quality of our homes without compromising on affordability is a key commitment for Gleeson, and extending our product range to deliver designs that are needed is fundamental to this. The new house styles that will be available at Castle Meadows will enable us to attract an even wider demographic, as we continue our mission to deliver affordable, high-quality homes that people need, where they are needed most.”
