We spoke to Kim to find out more about her homebuying journey with Gleeson:
“I was previously renting a 3-bedroom semi-detached home, and when my lease was coming to an end I started the search for a new rental property. However, I faced quite a lot of difficulty finding a rental place that allowed pets, I have a 12.5-year-old rescue Staffy named Toby, who means the world to me! Despite numerous calls and viewings, I was unable to secure a suitable property. At this point, I decided to look at new build homes, with a particular interest in Shared Ownership.
"I discovered that Gleeson was offering a better deal of 50% ownership compared to other new builds in the area, plus I liked the look of the house, I went for the 2-bedroom, semi-detached Mayfield as I loved the layout and the plot I went for had a decent sized garden too (which is a bonus for Toby!).
"I wasn’t sure I would be able to get a mortgage at my age, but I was pleasantly surprised. The Shared Ownership mortgage and rent equates to the same as I was paying in rent, but I own 50% of the house and can buy more shares - I would never have been able to buy without this option.
"Buying provided me with better security, meaning I wouldn’t have to keep moving when my rental lease was up, and I would be able to keep my dog. Although my previous home was slightly bigger, my Gleeson home is enough for me, plus it has given me stability and security!

I’m loving my new house; the views are lovely from my windows and there is so much daylight having the dual aspect windows. I can’t wait to start getting my garden planted up.
