How to find your signature interior style
So, you’ve bought your stunning new Gleeson home and you can’t wait to furnish it, making it cosy, beautiful and personal to you. But where should you begin?
The first stage is deciding what style or theme you want your home to have, which is tricky, especially when it’s your first home and you want it to be perfect. Perhaps you’re confused and have so many different styles that you like and can’t narrow your choices down. Or you’ve found some furniture you love and don’t know which style category it fits into and what accessories to pair with it.
To help solve your problems, we asked our favourite interior designer Vanessa Loveridge, Managing Director of Signature Luxury Interiors, the company behind our stunning show homes to put together this guide on how to find your perfect style based on the five most common interior styles we’re seeing in Gleeson homes at the moment.
1. Traditional
As you can probably guess, traditional interior design is inspired by tradition! It’s timeless styles taking inspiration from the eighteenth and nineteenth century, incorporating tasteful furnishings with art, antiquesque furniture and accessories. In traditional homes you may see a neutral colour palette blended with colours like gold, green and red and grand looking textures on things like wall tiles, flooring patterns, rugs and throws. To get this style, when it comes to picking your kitchen option, go for a classic shaker style kitchen in a dark navy.

2. Modern
A personal favourite of ours, modern homes are minimal, featuring few accessories and very little clutter. Monochrome is a big modern trend, think black and white with silver or chrome accents. Modern furniture has clean, simple lines and coffee tables and furniture are likely to have a sleek surface finish. Green plants go well with this style, standing out against plain backgrounds and making statement shelves pop. Modern accessories you should seek to use in your home include metal, glass and steel. 3. Industrial
Industrial homes replicate the raw, unfinished feel of warehouses by using rough and harsh materials like concrete and brick, usually paired with wood. Use neutral greys and rustic tones to give your home an industrial look. Jazz up your home with funky light fittings and bulbs, printed art walls and iron framed furniture, such as bed frames and dining tables. To keep that warehouse vibe, keep things streamlined and understated. When picking your Gleeson kitchen, go for the concrete look worktop or cupboard units to get this look.

4. Scandinavian
Use white, black, and light woods as your main source of inspiration if you want a Scandinavian style home. By combining white and other neutrals you’ll create a bright, spacious, light and calming atmosphere for you home when furnishing it with Scandinavian trends in mind. Choose furniture pieces which are efficient, practical, and stylish. When picking your kitchen go for monochrome worktops and white units to be in keeping with a Scandinavian theme.

5. Rustic
In its most basic definition, a rustic home is designed to be natural, rough, aged, and casual. To get this look you should use distressed leather, reclaimed woods and hand-crafted items that have a raw and weathered effect finish, giving your home a warm and earthy atmosphere. Pair your wood furniture with Autumny toned accessories, in colours like oranges, greens and reds for a cosy home all year round.
