Kayley and John, a young couple stepping into the world of homeownership for the first time, were on the lookout for a home that would offer them both space and comfort. They dreamed of a place where they could not only enjoy their present but also envision a future, potentially raising a family. We spoke to the couple to find out more about their journey!
Kayley and John said: “We are both first-time buyers with no children yet. I’m a nurse and John is a factory operative. We hope to grow our little family in the near future and buying our Gleeson home feels like we are one step closer to that.”
The couple were particularly drawn to Gleeson’s developments over others in the area and they found that Greymoor Meadows ticked all the boxes, with the location being a major plus. “The location was perfect for us because although we didn’t want to be in the city, we also didn’t want to be too far away either. We wanted a driveway for both cars and lots of room as we have two dogs. We needed three bedrooms for future family plans and a large kitchen because we love to cook!”
Kayley went on to say: “Right from making our first contact with the sales team, they were always so approachable, making it an easy choice when we started looking! I have rented in the past but always found it too expensive alongside paying bills, and the house never really feels like yours – I knew renting was only a temporary solution.”
Their journey wasn’t without its challenges. “We had a long journey due to reserving on early release. We were impatient, but everyone at Gleeson was so kind. Anything we were concerned about was listened to, and any problems we had were sorted as soon as possible.” Despite the wait, the couple found joy in every milestone. “Since moving in, I’ve started a new job, graduated from university, we have celebrated birthdays, and now enjoyed our first Christmas together! It’s so nice to have our own space and be able to just enjoy living together, as we both lived in separate towns before.”
The couple made several upgrades to their new home. “We upgraded our entire kitchen, including the cooker and hob, and we got a towel warmer and extra sockets installed. As a student nurse at the point of buying the home, I didn’t have the funds or time to renovate—we needed a blank canvas that we could move straight into.” Kayley said.
Kayley and John’s advice to other potential buyers is simple, “Definitely look into the schemes available as Gleeson has many options to suit your needs. For example, we used the low-cost housing scheme! We would also advise visiting the show homes across the different developments, and speak to the sales team. The staff are so lovely and helpful especially if you’re a first-time buyer! Take your time and enjoy the process. We would definitely recommend Gleeson and would consider buying another Gleeson home in the future.”
