autumn living room

The Gleeson guide to an autumn home aesthetic

As the weather gets chillier and the rain starts to pour, we are loving nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa with a good Netflix series. This summer seems to have came and gone very fast, so we know many of our customers are ready to get their Gleeson home looking autumn ready. The interior design team at Gleeson have compiled some tips and inspiring items to help you get your home looking all autumnal.

Add some autumn toned accessories and chunky knits

A change to your home’s colour palette is easily achievable by adding a sprinkle of autumn hues here and there. We’re talking mustard yellows, firey red hues, deep purples, dark leafy greens, and chocolate browns. These foliage inspired shades will really get you in the mood to hunker down on the sofa with a good brew. However, cosy is key, so the Gleeson interior team recommend getting these colours into your home by using accessories, such as chunky knitted throws, teddy bear blankets and plenty of squashy cushions. Drape throws across your sofa or decorate your bed with soft cushions to get the look. Lighting candles also creates a homely ambiance, especially in your living room and bedroom areas, pumpkin spice scented candles aren’t hard to come by at this time of year and they smell amazing.

Create a cosy outdoors

The great outdoors may be amazing in the summer, but don’t write off spending time in your Gleeson garden as the nights get darker. Every Gleeson home comes with a garden meaning you never have to miss out on snug nights watching the stars. You can enjoy the autumn air by making your garden an autumn sanctuary, just add solar powered fairy lights, a fire pit, and lanterns, then wrap yourself up in your warmest clothes and enjoy your lovely garden.

DIY door wreaths

We’re probably going to be spending even more time than ever indoors this autumn, which may mean you have more time on your hands. Impress the delivery drivers when they drop off the 12th parcel of the week by making a DIY autumn door wreath. Easy to make and stunning to look at, all you need is a wire frame, leaves, greenery and decorations, a hot glue gun, ribbon or brown twine and some sharp cutters (scissors or wire cutters). The Gleeson interior team are obsessed with front doors sporting these.
