Holmside Grange is surrounded by a selection of good nurseries and schools.  Craghead Childcare Centre is within walking distance, Little Acorns Nursery is less than one mile away and Oxhill Nursery is just over one mile away.  All of which have been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

A choice of doctors and dentists are less than two miles away and the University Hospital of North Durham (incl. A&E) and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital are both within seven miles of the site.

There is a wide selection of local shops, including a convenience store and a pharmacy.  Asda Supermarket is just one miles away. 


Sports and leisure centres, a fun farm and an adventure park are also less than four miles away, as well as a selection of pubs, restaurants and cinemas, offering plenty of family entertainment.
